Meaning And Life Application

This verse emphasizes that you cannot please God if you don’t have the right relationship with him and don’t trust him in everything. You won’t be able to please God if you don’t have faith in Him and aren’t happy with His faithfulness, truthfulness, wisdom, and His promises.

This is also true in other areas in life. You can’t please someone if you don’t have confidence in that person. If a man and woman don’t have confidence in each other, they won’t be able to please each other. Actually, if a husband and wife don’t have confidence in each other, they won’t stay married; jealousy and mistrust will bring misery in that relationship. Children can’t please their parents if they don’t have confidence that they’re doing the right thing. Friends can be comfortable with each other only if they trust each other.

It’s the same thing with God. We can’t please God if we don’t have faith in His Word and trust in His character. You can’t please God if you don’t believe in His promises. You can’t please Him if you don’t believe that His way is the only way to go.

God won’t be happy with someone who doesn’t believe that He is the one and only God. He won’t be happy with someone who doesn’t believe in God’s supremacy, or that He is the Lord of the Universe.

Just as it is important to have confidence in others, God requires us to have confidence in Him. If we don’t, then we won’t be able to please Him.

Here are some ideas on how you can apply Hebrews 11:6 in your life:

  • Forming good habits will help you keep your faith strong. For example: make a daily habit of praying and reading your Bible. Do this for at least 30 minutes a day.
  • Take some time to think about how your actions are affecting others and whether those actions are pleasing to God.
  • Ask your Church, community, pastor or friends in faith for guidance, tips and support. Go online and search for Christian forums or blogs that you’re interested in to get more input.
  • Look for Christian friends who might be in the same boat as you spiritually.
  • Look for a book or movie that can give you some kind of encouragement about your own Christian walk.
  • Try reading some biographies of people whose faith has strengthened their life. Reading others’ faith journeys can help reinforce your own.
  • Find people who had a life changing event that caused them to dedicate their lives to God.
  • Pray to God to give you reassurance that He is with you and for you all the time.
  • Keep a list of things for which you’re grateful for in life. Whenever you’re having a bad day, you can always turn to it for encouragement.

Pray Hebrews 11:6

Prayer 1
Precious Lord, You state in Hebrews 11:6 that we can’t serve you without faith. Today, I am asking you to strengthen my faith in you. May everything I do be done in accordance to your glory. When life gets tough, please give me a reason to not give up and continue trusting you. May my actions please you in every way possible, as such as bringing glory to your name and the name of Jesus Christ. I submit myself to your will. I leave my life in your hands. Use me as you see fit. Amen.

Prayer 2
Eternal God, I thank you, because you are just. I sing praises to you, Oh most High God. I may search for eternity, and still may not find a God greater than you. Blessings are on the heads of those who love you, and you listen to the words of your children. Since you have chosen me, I want to love you with all my heart and soul. I ask you for help in forming good Christian habits in life. I ask you to direct my life to glorify you. Help me pray more, read my Bible more and meditate on the wonders of your hands. Into your hands, I commend all my ways and my very life. My body and flesh belongs to the earth, but my heart and spirit belong to you. Amen.
