Meaning And Life Application

The yoke is frequently used in the Bible as a symbol of slavery, of afflictions, of legal rituals, of the physical punishment of sin. When Jesus spoke about taking his yoke, He is referring to His own religion, and his way of salvation.

The point is thus that if you embrace his system of religion and obey, your life will be easier, for you will find peace and joy in serving the Lord. Every type of religion involves some type of restraint. Not only restraint from evil thoughts, desires and sinful activities, but also the requirement of following rules and laws. Many of these laws are actually very strict and not many people are able to keep them.

But Jesus’ restrictions and laws are mild, gracious and easy to follow. Comparing the gospel with other requirements imposed by men, the gospel’s yoke is easier. He frees those who are slaves to sin. He frees slaves from darkness, and makes people servants of the truth.

Believing in Jesus is easier than being a sinner, and of all burdens that men are forced to carry, the gospel is the lightest.

To take up the yoke of Christ means to become his servant and follow in his footsteps. It means to bring one’s life into harmony with the word of God. It signifies living a disciplined life of following the commandments of God. It means to take up one’s cross and follow Christ regardless of the hardship. It means to put Christ first in all things, to give up your sinful ways and to serve the Lord with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength.

Life is much easier when you lay down your own desires and choose to follow Christ.

How to apply Matthew 11:29 in your life:

  1. Plan
Check your life in light of the gospel and see if your life is reflecting Christ. You could also ask your family and friends for their input. Write down everything that you want to change in your life and then make a commitment to making those changes.
  2. Act
Take baby steps when changing something in your life; don’t try to accomplish too much too quickly. Don’t worry about getting it right away; you will improve with time and experience.
  3. Check
Seek out a community that will hold you accountable to your goals. Ask yourself if you are progressing in your life and changing for the better. If not, return to step 1.
Matthew 11:29 Meaning and Life Application

Pray Matthew 11:29

Prayer 1
Dear Jesus, You said in Matthew 11:29 to take your yoke and learn from you. And I want to surrender to your will and follow you in everything. Therefore, I come before you and ask you to use me in any way that you see fit. Help me live in a way that glorifies and pleases you. Help me live a life worthy of your glory. Help me live a life of purity, righteousness and restrain. Help me take up your cause and make sure it is followed to the end. Help me take up your cross and follow you so that I may experience the same joy as you did. Amen.

Prayer 2
Divine Father, All glory, honor and praise belong to you. You know me better than anyone. You know where I stand today. Help me to set my sight on the good and never forget that you are the source of all good. Help me keep my focus on you, and not on the sinful and deceitful desires in my heart. Help me have a pure heart that is focused on you and not on the pleasures of material life. Help me stay focused on the things that are most important in this world. Help me serve you with my words, my actions, and all my heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Bible Verses About Trusting God

Meaning And Life Application

This verse emphasizes that you cannot please God if you don’t have the right relationship with him and don’t trust him in everything. You won’t be able to please God if you don’t have faith in Him and aren’t happy with His faithfulness, truthfulness, wisdom, and His promises.

This is also true in other areas in life. You can’t please someone if you don’t have confidence in that person. If a man and woman don’t have confidence in each other, they won’t be able to please each other. Actually, if a husband and wife don’t have confidence in each other, they won’t stay married; jealousy and mistrust will bring misery in that relationship. Children can’t please their parents if they don’t have confidence that they’re doing the right thing. Friends can be comfortable with each other only if they trust each other.

It’s the same thing with God. We can’t please God if we don’t have faith in His Word and trust in His character. You can’t please God if you don’t believe in His promises. You can’t please Him if you don’t believe that His way is the only way to go.

God won’t be happy with someone who doesn’t believe that He is the one and only God. He won’t be happy with someone who doesn’t believe in God’s supremacy, or that He is the Lord of the Universe.

Just as it is important to have confidence in others, God requires us to have confidence in Him. If we don’t, then we won’t be able to please Him.

Here are some ideas on how you can apply Hebrews 11:6 in your life:

  • Forming good habits will help you keep your faith strong. For example: make a daily habit of praying and reading your Bible. Do this for at least 30 minutes a day.
  • Take some time to think about how your actions are affecting others and whether those actions are pleasing to God.
  • Ask your Church, community, pastor or friends in faith for guidance, tips and support. Go online and search for Christian forums or blogs that you’re interested in to get more input.
  • Look for Christian friends who might be in the same boat as you spiritually.
  • Look for a book or movie that can give you some kind of encouragement about your own Christian walk.
  • Try reading some biographies of people whose faith has strengthened their life. Reading others’ faith journeys can help reinforce your own.
  • Find people who had a life changing event that caused them to dedicate their lives to God.
  • Pray to God to give you reassurance that He is with you and for you all the time.
  • Keep a list of things for which you’re grateful for in life. Whenever you’re having a bad day, you can always turn to it for encouragement.
Hebrews 11:6 Meaning and Life Application

Pray Hebrews 11:6

Prayer 1
Precious Lord, You state in Hebrews 11:6 that we can’t serve you without faith. Today, I am asking you to strengthen my faith in you. May everything I do be done in accordance to your glory. When life gets tough, please give me a reason to not give up and continue trusting you. May my actions please you in every way possible, as such as bringing glory to your name and the name of Jesus Christ. I submit myself to your will. I leave my life in your hands. Use me as you see fit. Amen.

Prayer 2
Eternal God, I thank you, because you are just. I sing praises to you, Oh most High God. I may search for eternity, and still may not find a God greater than you. Blessings are on the heads of those who love you, and you listen to the words of your children. Since you have chosen me, I want to love you with all my heart and soul. I ask you for help in forming good Christian habits in life. I ask you to direct my life to glorify you. Help me pray more, read my Bible more and meditate on the wonders of your hands. Into your hands, I commend all my ways and my very life. My body and flesh belongs to the earth, but my heart and spirit belong to you. Amen.

Meaning And Life Application

During Paul’s time in prison, the people of Philippians supported him financially. Of course, he was really happy about that. He wrote this letter to encourage them, because he believed that God would reward their kindness.

Apostle Paul believed that God Himself will make them amends for the kindness they had shown him. They supplied his needs, according to their poverty, but God shall supply theirs according to his riches.

Paul’s confidence comes from knowing that God blesses those who bless others. When we bless someone, God will bless us in some way.

It’s not about giving millions to the poor, but do what you can to help others, for the sake of Christ. The more we do for God, the more we are indebted to him, because we receive the more from him.

We are comforted by this assurance, knowing that God will help us in the future, whether it be our spiritual, mental or physical needs. And His supply is inexhaustible, because He is the God of the universe.

Stay connected to him, for he will certainly provide more than you could have ever expected.

Here are some examples of how to apply Philippians 4:19 in one’s life:

  • Give to a neighbor in need, don’t expect anything in return, and God will reward you.
  • Give your time, talent and resources to your community.
  • Do you have a need? Then pray and ask God for help, do not complain about it and wait for Him to solve the problem.
  • Make a list of all the many blessings you have in your life. Meditate on that each day, and praise Him daily for all of them.
  • Make an inventory of all the gifts and talents that you have received from God. Meditate on them, and use them to serve Him in your professional and personal life.
Philippians 4:19 Meaning and Life Application

Pray Philippians 4:19

Prayer 1
Living God, Your Word instructs us to provide for the people in need in our communities, and your blessing will follow. Encourage me to live in line with this commandment. Help me become a generous person so I can help those in need. Help me reach out to my neighbors. Help me give my time to help my community. Help me to be a better person. Amen.

Prayer 2
Glorious Father, I humbly enter your Presence with praise and worship. I bless you and exalt you. Words cannot describe the gratitude I have for everything you’ve done for me. Thank you for providing for me and my family. Thank you for the roof over my head. Thank you for the food on the table. Thank you for my job, so I can take care of myself and my family. Thank you for your goodness in our lives. Please continue to bless us with good health, your divine protection, and abundance in all areas of our lives. Thank you in advance, Lord. Amen.

Do you remember the struggles of David?

He went through countless ups and downs in his journey with God. David was called by God to be King, but before that he had to endure persecution and hardship. Eventually, he became King, and everyone knows that his rule wasn’t without troubles and controversy.

As David grew older, and looked back, he recognized that his hope was in God and that peace can be found only in Him (Psalm 4:8). And therefore, he relied on God to help him through every tough situation.

Just like David, our lives have ups and downs, good and bad days. We face financial problems, illness and pain, frustration and hurt, vulnerability and limitations, loss of loved ones, and above all, an unknown future. Oh, life gets messy sometimes.

Maybe today, you don’t have personal peace. You don’t have peace about your past, your present or your future. You don’t have peace in your family, your marriage or at your workplace. Do you have giants to defeat, mountains that need to be moved, powers and principalities to fight?

Know that, like David, you too can be an overcomer by depending on God for all your needs.

Put on the whole armor of God, take the name of Jesus, take the blood of the cross and fight the good fight.

How do you fight?

By using the power of prayer and the power of God’s Word. Victory is the only objective of the fight. Know that nothing is impossible to those that believe. You and God are the majority in any battle and you are guaranteed to be the champion of every fight.
